Anilam 1400 M Manual

First time post. I work as a machinist at a small precision glass company, and I have a question to whomever can answer. After resetting the XY zero on the CNC mill, I was about to edit the g code when a strange and new error popped up. 'Abnormal Program Termination: Memory Protection Fault CS:EIP = 000Ch:0009EF7Ah' Anyone have the slightest clue what this means? I'm worried about resetting the controller (hard reset and reboot), and we have a job that's five weeks late as is (previous issues with the mill itself). It's an Anilam 1400 controller on an Amstar table mill. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: A reboot fixed my error, as was suggested. Had a few other issues, but that's what the repair guy is for. If this is a production machine they are relying on, I'd seriously consider looking at what options exist for upgrading the electronics to something a bit less stone age. I half expect to hear you say the programming is loaded by punch card or 8' floppy. And yes, I worked at a place that had a CNC which ran on 8' floppy. Cantankerous beast of a machine.

Definitely can't wait to hear what the old guy says about it. Vhdl Program For Full Adder Using Two Half Adders on this page. I'm thinking there's a likely chance of bit rot in it's programming, or a bad piece of memory. Could be an easy solution, or could get ugly real quick.

Hi, I'm very new to this game but if you have a PCB844 serial junction board installed you need a key to be installed in connector 7 (page 5-4 of the manual) during software installation/ update. To quote the other manual (for systems shipped since April 1997. These systems contain an RS-232 harness P/N.

It is an error in the controller not the machine. It is impossible to tell the real cause of the error from the message. The message means the controller tried to write to some of its memory that it wasn't appropriate to write to at that time and that part after the = is the exact address of the offending instruction. All of which tells you basically nothing.

Worst case it could be because the memory in the controller is failing and you are doomed. Best case it could be a single bit was flipped by a cosmic ray which really does happen and if it happens to be an important bit then you get an error like this, reboot the system and go on your merry way. No matter what the actual cause the next step is to reboot. If you can reproduce the exact problem down to that last 9EF7Ah part then software/firmware in the controller needs to be reloaded. If the machine does other weird stuff then the included diagnostics that test the internal computer may be able to find a memory fault which may be repairable but I don't know where you are going to get a memory chip/simm that old. Or maybe the diagnostics won't be good enough or the component won't be repairable in which case the only solution is a new controller.
